about
Red Lines is a song referencing the propensity of the Northern Irish political parties to promote the politics of division using a series of Red Lines as boundaries which they are NEVER prepared to cross.
In effect these Red Lines tend to be Orange and Green lines aimed at keeping ‘themuns’ out and an excuse not to mount any serious negotiations.
The song is delivered in an electronica style supplemented by driving drums and guitar, building to a climax at which point everything is redlined out.
No negotiation, no compromise, not an inch. Where’s the future?
lyrics
Place your cross beside my name,
For no more sorrow, for no more pain,
Place your X beside my name,
I have no sorrow, I feel no shame.
Place your X beside my name,
Nothing to lose, nothing to gain,
I have no sorrow, I feel no pain,
When the race is run, I stand to gain,
With my red lines,
With my red lines.
Mark your X beside my box,
No need to feel, I have no thoughts,
Mark your cross beside my box,
No need to think, you need no thoughts,
Place your X beside my box,
Indelible marker, all for the cause,
These are, these are, these are,
My red lines, my red lines.
Place your cross beside my name,
There’s no tomorrow, no one will gain,
Place your X beside my box,
There are no feelings, there are no thoughts,
Place your cross beside my name,
Just like my father, I stand to gain,
Place your cross beside my name,
For no more sorrow, for no more pain.
With my red lines,
These are my red lines,
These are my red lines,
These are my red lines.
